PAL SECAM & NTSC

1987-2000
VHS-C (Video Home System-Compact) is a compact version of the standard VHS format, developed in the early 1980s primarily for consumer camcorders. It uses the same analog signal format as standard VHS but comes in a much smaller cassette, offering a more portable and convenient solution for home video recording. VHS-C tapes typically provided 30 minutes of recording time in SP mode, extendable to 45 minutes in LP mode. With an adapter, these cassettes could be played in regular VHS players, which was a major advantage for home viewing. Although later replaced by digital formats, VHS-C played an important role in the evolution of home video.
